Hi - I'm a part time volunteer at the Old Bridge NO KILL Animal Shelter. We have many beautiful cats, kittens and dogs just waiting for new loving homes. Every animal has a story - one was found living in a restaurant. One was thrown out of the window of a moving car. One was found wandering in traffic. The stories are poignant and heart-wrenching. And yet, despite all that they have been through, these animals are still loving, happy creatures. They deserve so much more! Everything in creation is special! Please consider coming down to our shelter and giving a home to one of our precious babies. You will get so much more than you give when a animal wins your heart. Bring some extra love into your home! Adopt a shelter pet today!
THEY ARE COMING IN FASTER THAN WE CAN ADOPT THEM OUT!!!
I heard the expression "kitten season" for the first time this year when I went around town looking for an orange tabby kitten for my mom. It had to be orange. But when I first went out on my quest the "pickens" were few and far between. I was told, literally, that it was not "kitten season" yet and I should wait a little bit and there would be kittens everywhere. No truer words were spoken. Spring came and, with that luscious season, an onslaught of kittens appeared as if we had been invaded by some cat planet from another galaxy. Eventually I ended up at the Old Bridge animal shelter which was overrun with the little furries. As the Bible says, to everything there is a season. Well, it seems that kitten season has been prolonged this year. While kitten numbers often subside after the initial spring onslaught, our shelter is as full of the little darlings as ever. And these babies are desperately in need of good homes! So let the word go forward - if you are ready to add a little furry love into your life - and, let's face it, there's nothing like a pet animal to brighten your outlook - we have the goods at the Old Bridge Animal Shelter. Come in today and adopt a little love! Barbara Roberts
THE DOMINO STORY
as told to Barbara Roberts
My name is Domino. I am, if I do say so myself, a stunning kitten of about twelve weeks. My coat, predictably, is black and white and I have flashing yellow eyes. My home for the past eight weeks or so has been the Old Bridge No-Kill Shelter. I came in with my brother who looked just like me but he got sick and I lost him. Everyone was worried that I would get depressed and sick myself but even though I miss him, I bounced back and am very happy and healthy.
There are a lot of kittens and cats at OBNKS. My next door neighbor is an older brown tabby kitten named Mabel and she can get pretty cranky. When she starts in, I jump up and bang our common wall to make her stop. She was sick for a while but is much better now. The girl with the red hair helps us when we are under the weather.
My downstairs neighbors are boy and girl twins who are very gymnastic. They are always getting yelled at for tipping their litter tray and trashing their cubicle. The girl with the braid does the yelling. I get back at her by splashing her with water. I do it to her every day; she never learns. Fun!
OBNKS is an okay place to live but I sure would like to be adopted. I am very playful and energetic and I need to get out and do some serious running around! Pacing back and forth in the cubicle gets tedious (the girl with the yellow hair says I look like a caged lion!). Besides, the dogs here bark too much and sometimes I get a headache.
My picture was in the last edition of the Suburban and even though it didn't do me justice, some of my attractiveness did come through.
So if you need an exceptionally attractive, healthy, active kitten with a good sense of humor, please come and get me! Or send someone else. I am ready for a loving home of my own.
Several weeks ago I found a sweet black and white cat outside my home. We brought him to the shelter. If anyone is looking for a cat with a wonderful personality please go to the Old Bridge Shelter and meet him. We named him "Jamal" but I think the shelter might have renamed him. Just ask Sonja where the black and white cat is that Christine's daughter brought in and she will know which one he is. He loves to cuddle, kiss and is super friendly and affectionate. Any family would be lucky to adopt such a wonderful cat!
I also am a long time volunteer at the Old Bridge NO KILL Animal Shelter. We are currently filled with soo many beautiful animals!
We have many adoptable cats, kittens, dogs, and even a bunny!
All of them are in need of a "fur-ever home". Shortly, there will be minor floor
work being done. All of the animals HAVE TO BE REMOVED WHILE THIS WORK IS BEING DONE FOR THEIR SAFETY AND HEALTH!
Please, even if you can't provide a forever home, if you can provide a foster home while this work is being done, it would save a life!!
Please, think of this as an option to help. Share your heart and home.
You will receive so much more in return in unconditional love then you can ever imagine.
I grew up in Old Bridge and used to help out at the shelter when I was younger. It's a great place for abandoned animals to feel safe and loved, but it's not a home for them.
When I decided our cat needed a companion, I headed straight to the Old Bridge NO KILL Animal Shelter. My husband picked an adorable black and white kitten named Gwen to come home and be friends with our Ozzy. As soon as he picked her up, she snuggled into him. All he could say was, "I like this one." So the new addition to our family came home that day, and now, 5 months later, I'd say she likes us too.
I highly recommend the Old Bridge NO KILL Animal Shelter to anyone who's looking to adopt a new friend. The animals are healthy and well adjusted thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff and volunteers. And if you're an animal lover, but your house is full, the shelter always appreciates any donations or contributions you can make. There are dozens of sweet, four-legged furries waiting to love you back with all they've got!
